Jingle Bell Jubilee Pop-Up Gallery

Jingle Bell Jubilee Pop-Up Gallery

Hello All:

We want to start by thanking you all for your participation and support in our endeavor to put our western suburb community on the “art” map. We are excited to announce that we are working with Lombard Town Centre and business owners to continue to build not only the artistic community but also build a bond with the general community. We hope to strengthen and bring these communities together through joint projects. Stay tuned for more details in the very near future.

Now on to the details for the current event:

Saturday, December 6, 2014 & Sunday, December 7, 2014

Jingle Bell Jubilee Pop-Up Gallery

(Be sure to mark your calendars)

We will be hosting this pop up gallery for two days and the hours will be as follows:

Saturday, December 6, 2014: 1:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m( Tentative )

Sunday, December 7, 2014: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. ( Tentative )

We also plan to organize our schedule though Volunteer Spot
Sign Up should be ready in a few Days.

We need volunteers to be present for both days and if you have work in the gallery you must contribute 2 hours onsite. You may want to do 2 hours at one time or 1 hour per day – the choice is yours. Ideally we would like to have a minimum of 3 people tending the gallery every hour of operation over the two days. Please advise of your availability via email to myself (Sharon Tinker) at studios630@gmail.com , and I will put a schedule together and send it to everyone. If your schedule will not permit you being present for 2 hours during the gallery being open then please consider using your two hours during set-up or tear-down.

Gallery Submissions

The theme of the Jubilee is “Winter Wonderland”. Now that being said, only works that will be displayed in the window must reflect this theme, works inside the space do not have to.

Submitting work for the gallery will take place on Thursday, November 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. (during our regular 3rd Thursday Artists Group meeting) and on Sunday, November, 23 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Corner House, 100 W. St. Charles Road, Lombard, IL.

We are on a pretty tight time frame so please try to make it to one of these two days to drop off your work. If absolutely necessary we may be able to arrange to meet you at a different time but hopefully one of the two days will work for you.

Labeling and Pricing

Please make sure your information and price of the piece are submitted with the work so we can make uniform cards to accompany the artwork on display.  Details on how sales are going to be completed and funds distributed to the artists will be coming soon – still working out the specifics and we will forward all the information when it is set.

Last, but certainly not least . . .

Set-up and Tear-Down:

This event is taking place the weekend following Thanksgiving weekend so hopefully some will have flexibility to help with the set up and tear-down of the gallery. I spoke with Sarah Richardt, Executive Director of Lombard Town Centre, and we will have access to the space most of the week before the event to set it up. We thought evenings would probably work best. I am not available on Monday or Wednesday evenings but I thought that Tuesday and Thursday, or Thursday and Friday evenings either one might work to get the gallery all set up.

Obviously, Sunday we would tear down after 5:00 p.m. and make any repairs to the walls and touch up the paint if necessary. We are open to what your thoughts are so please let us know and we will finalize a schedule for this as well.

The only thing we do not know how we are going to organize is the return of the art pieces to the artists – we would appreciate some input from you, the artists, as to how you would like to handle this.

This is our first experience organizing this type of event so if you have any suggestions that you think would help overall please let us know, let’s discuss. We appreciate any assistance you have to offer, and we want to take a moment to thank you again for your support and participation.
